a beloved sister..
Omar's baby sister is getting married this spring and we are thrilled to be able to document her wedding day. We had a very special engagement session planned for them at the exquisite Elephant Room in downtown McAllen. We found this place as Omar and I walked by one evening and we were so mesmerized by the setting, that we had to step in and take it all in. It was like walking into a dream. The owners were so gracious to let us use their place as the setting for Sally and Otis's engagement shoot a couple of weeks later. Here are some of our favorites...

Celebrating Mindy
Last week, Mindy's seven children got together for our biggest family photo shoot yet. As a celebration to her 75th birthday, her children organized a photo shoot to commemorate this special moment in their lives. Omar and I had a blast with everyone! Here is a sneak peek into their session. Enjoy!

you find out who your friends are...
It's hard to find the right words to describe what the following two people mean to both Omar and I. They are the ones who were waiting for us at 2AM the night we arrived home from Dallas almost two years ago ready to help us unload, the ones who were always there to lend a helping hand at our photography expos, the ones who stayed up helping us paint and unpack as we moved into our new home. I could go on and on. And every time I hear the following song, I think of them...
"Run your car off the side of the road
Get stuck in a ditch way out in the middle of nowhere
Or get yourself in a bind lose the shirt off your back
Need a floor, need a couch, need a bus fare
This is where the rubber meets the road
This is where the cream is gonna rise
This is what you really didn't know
This is where the truth don't lie
You find out who your friends are
Somebody's gonna drop everything
Run out and crank up their car
Hit the gas, get there fast
Never stop to think 'what's in it for me?' or 'it's way too far'
They just show on up with their big old heart
You find out who your friends are
Everybody wants to slap your back
wants to shake your hand
when you're up on top of that mountain
But let one of those rocks give way then you slide back down look up
and see who's around then
This ain't where the road comes to an end
This ain't where the bandwagon stops
This is just one of those times when
A lot of folks jump off
You find out who your friends are
Somebody's gonna drop everything
Run out and crank up their car
Hit the gas, get there fast
Never stop to think 'what's in it for me?' or 'it's way too far'
They just show on up with their big old heart
You find out who your friends are
When the water's high
When the weather's not so fair
When the well runs dry
Who's gonna be there?
You find out who your friends are"
J.R. and Rena, you have both proven time and time again that we can always count on you for anything. We love you. Congratulations on your newest addition. We can't wait to meet her...

the Casas
I spent Saturday afternoon photographing the Casas family and their beautiful girls. I had so much fun with them! Despite the chilly weather, the girls were just dolls to work with! Take a look at some of my favorites...

The Wedding of Carlos & Vanessa
It seems like only yesterday that we started off on this photography venture. And in looking back, our passion for what we do has not faded, but instead, has gotten stronger with each client that we meet.
Omar captured the wedding of Carlos and Vanessa a few weeks ago. I'm always anxious to see what he brings home for me to work on and like always, he did not disappoint. As I reviewed the images, I thought to myself, "wow, how I wish we had images of our wedding like these". It makes me so happy that we can give this to our clients -- beautiful memories that will last forever. It's just one of the things that keeps us motivated to always be better than yesterday.
Here is a glimpse into their special day...

until next time,
