38 weeks

I had a session last week with a very beautiful, glowing mommy-to-be. At 38 weeks, she was still tiny, tiny (according to my book) and as cute as can be. We're only a few weeks away from her newborn session and I can't wait.

Here are a few of my favorites from such a sweet session...

My Inspiration

As some of you already know, I attended a wedding seminar a few weeks ago. This wasn't just any seminar, as it was led by a great young married couple who I get a great deal of inspiration from. At the seminar, JB & DeEtte from Sallee photography were awesome to hangout with and always encouraged us to get out of our comfort zones and try new things. It was a great experience to learn from some of the most talented photographers in the business. They taught us some great lighting techniques that add more romantic and dramatic effects to our images. I look forward to trying some of these new techniques at our upcoming weddings.

Here are a few shots taken during the seminar...

Time Flies

When I left to Dallas five and a half years ago, my little sister was only six years old. We spent every minute of that last summer together. We'd play her Nintendo 64 and try to accumulate as many stars as possible. I have to admit, we'd cheat a bit by logging onto the internet and finding out exactly where each star was hidden and the shortcuts on getting to them. We rode around in "the coolest car in the world", listening to Eminem's latest on the radio. We were inseperable. The day I left, I remember looking out of the airplane window with a huge knot in my throat and tears in my eyes and seeing her wave goodbye to me from the airport terminal. I feel like I somehow missed seeing her grow up - from birthdays, to her first school play and her elementary dance competitions. And now, I return to the valley five and a half years later to see her start her teenage years. Time flies. I'm grateful that I won't miss another moment. And she'll always be my sugar-booger. No matter how old she is...

"this place is ugly"

So we had a very special session with our godson and his beautiful mommy today. We found this cool place as we were driving home and decided it was perfect for our shoot. Our shooting locations tend to be out of the ordinary and that was clear after hearing our godson's first reaction as we pulled up to it, "this place is ugly". And as we all know, kids don't lie :)

But I think the pictures turned out pretty nice. Here are a couple of my favorites..

Senior Urban Sessions in the RGV

We are introducing the senior urban session to the RGV. We are so happy with all of the cool areas we are finding for these sessions. Urban sessions are filled with color and eclectic style choices. Shooting locations are out of the ordinary, making for very striking images.

We had our first senior session yesterday. All of these images were taken in areas and streets of the Rio Grande Valley. This senior was just gorgeous with a very unique style for fashion. We loved it! Here she is...

Sleepy newborn

I had my first official session in the Rio Grande Valley yesterday. We really aren't ramping up until May, but we are scheduling time critical sessions such as newborn, maternity and high school seniors now.

This session was a dream. This little sweetheart didn't wake up or flinch once as we moved from frame to frame. She was an absolute doll and you could just feel the love that these new parents had for her. I feel honored to have been chosen by them to capture their first moments together.

and the journey begins...

We are officially starting our move in a few hours - the movers were in Austin as of a few minutes ago.

So just a heads up to our clients with pending sessions and appointments - we will be without internet access for a few days until we get settled in. Feel free to call us if you need anything.

Omar just came back from the Sallee Wedding Seminar. We didn't have a lot of time to look through all of his images, but we did manage to squeeze one in!

Urban Junkyard

I found this location so appealing to me. Something about the textures and colors just drew me to it. Here are a few favorite moments from this urban junkyard...

San Diego Sweetheart

This little girl happened to be spending an afternoon at her dad's garage in downtown San Diego around the area of our urban shoot during the Brianna Graham workshop. When we asked her if she'd like to take pictures, her eyes lit up. She was our little model for a couple of hours as dad watched on with such a proud look on his face. Everything about it was so heart-warming. She was such a sweetheart and so beautiful. She called it "one of the best days of my life" - so sweet.

Here she is...

Timeless beauty

My style is still evolving and it has recently taken a new turn when it comes to my children's portraiture. We are introducing an urban session to our business very soon. These images will be striking with very careful and selective style choices. We will let everyone know as soon as they become available. These sessions will be limited because of the time involved in creating such a collection, so we'll keep you posted.

However, one aspect in my style that will continue to remain is the timeless beauty of my soon-to-be mommy clients. I love adding elegant and soft sentiments to these collections and that will not change. That said, here is one that I could not resist to share. I just love it.
